Friends, we are all aware that we are facing difficult times with the corona virus in our midst, but some sections of society are suffering more than most. Three weeks ago the BBC local news alerted us to the problem of food banks suffering shortages of donations due to people stockpiling and no longer wishing to donate food. For many people on low incomes or no income at all it is impossible to buy extra. In Derby there are a few charities which help the most needy, one being Derby City Mission. This is a Christian charity and was the first food bank to open nationwide. It occurred to me that St. Marys church at Marston-on-Dove may be able to help by collecting and donating food items and essentials. A collection box was arranged to be placed at the back of the church. However, we are now in a different position as all services and events have had to be cancelled. I now have the box at home and if any-one would like to donate we could operate a no contact method of dropping items off to me and I will take them to Derby City Mission. Below is a list of required items. They specifically request NO FRESH PRODUCTS.
Thanks in anticipation. Keep safe and God bless, Elaine.
To donate items please contact the church office on 01283 808408, email firstname.lastname@example.org or message us on Facebook. We will pass on your details to Elaine to arrange for you to drop off any donations.
